  • 10 inches x10 inches – piece of plywood
  • Lag Bolt & Washer
  • Brick Chips
  • Dow Rods

  • A few parrot toys

Directions to build your parrot a tree stand:

First you will need to find a location or area where you are able to find a tree that can be cut down or maybe you have one in your yard or on your land.  Some areas that are being cleared for construction and building are a great place to find wonderful trees that are going to be disposed of. Remember it does not have to be anything extravagant; there just needs to be enough limbs on your selection so that your bird can play, climb and chew on.

After making your selection, cut the tree and bring to your workstation.

Base of homemade parrot standAttach the plywood to the base of the tree limb with a lag bold and washer drilled up through the bottom of the plywood into the tree limb itself. Take into mind, that you will need to keep the piece of plywood smaller than the Rubbermaid tote in order for it to sit in the bottom of the tote.

Now, place the plywood with tree attached into the Rubbermaid tote.

Then, proceed to fill the tote/bucket with heavy brick chips. You may need assistance when filling the bucket up. You want to keep your tree stand in the upright position. You will use the chips to stabilize the tree stand and give the base sufficient weight.
